About the role:

The firm possesses 50 years of experience developing effective educational facilities and learning environments that support success for all students. In 1994 the firm established an Education Focus within the firm dedicated to providing K-12 education design and planning services. Due to continued growth, combined with strategic succession planning for the K-12 Studio, they are seeking to augment the leadership team of this practice with a Project Manager.

This is a position offering the successful candidate a significant opportunity to positively influence the firm and their career. The firm offers a strong platform that provides a portfolio of award-winning projects and a passionate staff fully committed to uncompromising client service. He/she will work directly with the firm’s Principals and Studio Leaders in all aspects of the project process. This is a high visibility role where this person will enjoy outstanding opportunities for innovation, challenging design, client interaction and direct collaboration with project team members from the architectural, interiors and engineering disciplines.

The successful candidate will be mentored by the Education Studio Leaders and be intimately involved in business development, client interviews, creating proposals, leading project teams, client management and be accountable for the financial performance of the projects they manage. Additionally, they are seeking an entrepreneurial design professional with strong leadership abilities who is active, well known and respected within the school districts they serve. This person will be groomed to lead the K-12 Education Studio within the next 3-5 years.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

  • Marketing and Business Development including: Attending Conferences, Conventions and Education Related Association Meetings.
  • Working with clients on their facility needs and provide referendum support when necessary.
  • Participating in the creation of potential project proposals and interviews.
  • Actively manage project teams, track project progress and financial performance.
  • Coordinating the production effort of all project phases using the firm’s standards.
  • Working and collaborating with project teams regarding design
  • Engaging clients in the design planning and design processes
  • Directing internal and external consultant teams and coordinating their documents
  • Coordinating documentation for Energy Star, LEED, or B3 Certifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
  • Ability to be Licensed and practice Architecture in MN and WI at a minimum.
  • 5 years minimum previous experience in the following areas in an architecture firm:
    • Experience and understanding of Education Project Planning and Programming of all types of educational facilities: teaching and learning, furniture fixtures and equipment, school safety and security, and operational and maintenance practices.
  • Experience and well-developed knowledge of building systems, estimated costs, and codes.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working on projects with funding provided by/to school districts
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • LEED, B3, Well Building Design Practices, and/or Energy Star experience
  • Hand drawing skills
  • Professional verbal communication and writing skills
  • Curiosity for learning and innovation
