About the role:

Reports to: Global Science & Technology Leader and the Office Practice Leader

Key Relationships: Science & Technology Leadership Team, Office Leadership Team, Principals and Marketing Staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

Leadership of the S&T Practice within an office, responsible for developing and leading high performance teams focused on the implementation of the Business Plan.  Contribute to the success of the firm as a whole including the areas of business development and client engagement, client and team leadership, mentoring of talent, advancing the quality of work, integrating the range of design services, managing process and solid financial performance.

You will balance your time in three key areas:

  1. Developing new business opportunities with new and current client partners to achieve marketing targets.
  2. Leading, engaging and partnering with clients on billable project specific work. This fosters strong client relationships and presents opportunities for future work.
  3. Engaging in activities to advance S&T Practice, the Firm, and the office. Responsibilities include expanding the practice by working with and mentoring current team members and recruiting talented candidates to be part of a high performance team. Other activities include participation in development of S&T Best Practices and participation in S&T communications and marketing initiatives.

  • Practice Leadership: Responsible for the leadership and growth of the office Science & Technology Market. Must be a self-starter, an entrepreneurial person with the ability to collaborate effectively with others across the full range of services provided by the firm. Driven by the opportunity to create and execute a high-performance Science & Technology practice.
  • Top Line Development: Work with Client Leaders and the Global Science & Technology Leader to focus on growing the top line of the practice and the firm. Champion strategic client development and strategic initiatives into the client engagement process. You will seek to differentiate the Firm in the marketplace, promote the full range of integrated design services, supporting the advancement of this Firm’s Vision and Purpose in all phases of client engagement.
  • Client skills: Proactive development and long-term collaborative leadership of clients in the Science & Technology market.
  • Vision and Innovation: High level of knowledge of state of the art Science & Technology environments. A Science & Technology Client Leader with knowledge of “Best Practices”, Evidenced Based and Research based design.
  • Strategy and Planning: Understanding of the business, operations and processes of Science & Technology client needs and resulting market solutions, and the ability to develop a comprehensive team of experts and thought leaders within this Firm focused on creative, state of the art solutions.
  • Bottom Line Growth: Work with the Office Practice Leader, Business Practice Leaders and Managers to ensure that the business plan bottom line initiatives are successfully implemented. Achieve a minimum of 10% firm profitability level for the practice each year.
  • Staff Development: Assess, mentor and coach staff to develop future leaders. You will take ownership for the growth of their People. Mentoring and growing emerging professionals is an important responsibility for all leaders. You will assist in establishing an environment that encourages leadership, integrity, humility, respect and responsibility, along with collaboration, experimentation, innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
  • Professional and Community Organization Involvement: Nurture, grow and expand relationships in the community.  Participate in both local professional and community organizations that increase visibility of the firm and expand the Firm’s brand recognition.
