About the role:

Due to strategic human resource planning, combined with continued growth and success, The firm is seeking a Florida Division Manager for its growing Southeast Region. This position will be based in either Jacksonville or Orlando, with the location being flexible based on the appropriately qualified candidate. Responsible for managing staff as well as driving the growth, strategy and sale of transportation services across Florida at both the local and state level. This is a senior level position in the organization.

The successful candidate will direct and coordinate activities of the Division office(s) and provide direction for the daily operations of the Division, implementing plans and policies to achieve overall organization objectives and insure compliance with mission and vision statements.

The position will report to and work in conjunction with the Regional Manager, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Business Development Officer to grow the business profitably and ensure financial success of the division by assisting in the development and implementation of strategic growth plans.

It is expected that the candidate will provide industry leadership across all transportation market sectors for interstates, highways, local roadways, and bridges design and construction. Additional service lines include public involvement, transportation planning, signalization, landscape architecture and aviation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES: 

  • Establishes and implements division policies, procedures and organization structure within established corporate policy
  • Develops, directs and monitors short‐term and long‐range business plans for the Division consistent with overall profit and growth objectives of the company
  • Plans, staffs and supervises all Division activities including personnel, administration, professional development plans, business development and operations; defining functions, responsibilities of staff, etc.
  • Provides guidance and direction to subordinate managers in identifying potential clients/projects and desired scope of work
  • Works closely with the Regional Manager to identify staffing needs and is responsible for recruiting staff to address technical needs and new business objectives.
  • Maintains an effective business development program, securing profitable work on a routine basis
  • Initiates and maintains liaison with major clients and business partners to facilitate positive relationships and communication
  • Assigns Group and/or Project Managers to meet budget, schedule and quality objectives for all projects
  • Reviews and recommends for approval by the Regional Manager, scopes of work, budgets, and schedules for all contracts and contract amendments in the Division
  • Monitors aged invoices as required to meet financial performance objectives
  • Maintains compliance with financial objectives including: Chargeability, Net Revenue per Direct Labor Hours, Profit, Overhead
  • Ensures that professional development plans are developed and reviewed annually for all employees in division; review employee performance and recommend salary adjustments and promotions for approval by Corporate
  • Coordinates staff levels with Division workload.  Advises Corporate of any changes in Division staff
  • Participates in formulating and administering company policies and developing long‐range goals and objectives
  • Serves as member of Company management committees and outside technical committees, and local civic organizations to promote the Company
  • Participates in local civic and professional organizations to promote the Company
  • Generates leads and implements strategies to secure targeted projects
  • Researches, reviews and recommends new market areas to achieve both geographic and discipline diversification

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or construction related field is required
  • Minimum 15+ years related experience including 8+ years business development, operations management and staff management
  • Extensive experience and success in working with FDOT and specifically within Districts 2, 5 and the Turnpike Authority
  • Demonstrated ability to drive growth, developing strategy, generate sales and build high performance teams in this competitive marketplace
  • Proven record of developing new clients and successfully securing major project opportunities with the State DOT and other local agency clients
  • Ability to discern new markets in the state
  • The successful candidate will have extensive and well established professional relationships with client representatives and other consultant firms in the market sectors the firm serves
  • This position will rely heavily on technical expertise and reputation, so registration as a Professional Engineer in Florida is preferred.
