About the role:

Due to strategic business planning, to better serve their client’s needs now and in the future, the firm is augmenting their Forensics Practice with a Senior Forensics Electrical Engineer. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Managing Principal and other Practice Leaders in continuing to expand their market share in North America and globally.

The Forensics Practice assist attorneys, insurance companies, building owners and contractors/manufactures and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural forensics services. As design professionals, they evaluate for standard care, as forensic specialists, they seek root cause; as problem solvers, they seek solutions. Their deliverables typically include research, calculations, drawings, computer analysis, reports and expert testimony.

This individual will be expected to conduct scope of damage, and cause and origin investigations for low and medium voltage power distribution systems involving both fossil fuel and renewable energy sources such as wind turbines and solar arrays. The candidate will be required to actively participate in marketing and business development efforts, and develop and maintain client relationships.

  • Develop and maintain new and existing client relationships
  • On-site inspection/investigation including surveying and documenting observations, photographing, and sketching
  • Provides expert testimony in support of investigation analysis and findings.
  • Researches historical background of diverse systems, technical issues, and code issues.
  • Organizes field data to facilitate analysis and problem solving
  • Completes analysis of low and medium voltage systems
  • Maintains project records
  • Attends meetings at various office, field and construction sites
  • Performs inspections of buildings and other structures, both visually and with instruments
  • Records data clearly and write passages for reports, letters, etc.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred.)
  • California State Professional Engineer’s License (or State PE license with reciprocity in California)
  • Expert testimony and electrical engineering forensics experience (this is a highly desirable qualification, however will consider candidates with the desire and aptitude to become proficient in these areas)
  • 5-10 years of experience with low- and medium-voltage systems
  • Field experience with diverse electrical systems
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business, maintain existing client relationships
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Meticulous “do whatever it takes” work ethic



  • Field engineering and troubleshooting electrical equipment and systems for industrial installations such as refineries, breweries, paper plants, renewable energy systems, power generation plants, and/or power distribution systems.
  • Seven or more years of focused experience on electrical design, renovation, or maintenance of low- voltage and medium-voltage electrical production or distribution systems on a wide variety of project and building types



The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. This position requires visual acuity and listening ability; individuals must have the dexterity to be able to operate typical office equipment, as well as field equipment such as ladders. Additionally, this person must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs., perform work in extreme temperatures, and understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards.
