About the role:

Due to strategic business planning, to better serve their client’s needs now and in the future, the firm is augmenting their Forensics Practice with a Senior Forensics Architect. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Managing Principal and other Practice Leaders in continuing to expand their market share in North America and globally.

The Forensics Practice assist attorneys, insurance companies, building owners and contractors/manufactures and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural forensics services. As design professionals, they evaluate for standard care, as forensic specialists, they seek root cause; as problem solvers, they seek solutions

The ideal candidate should current currently possess solid technical credentials and experience in forensic building investigations; construction materials and systems; design, repair and restoration of damaged buildings; and demonstrated performance in condition assessment of existing buildings. Ideally the successful candidate should have a strong knowledge of matters involving architectural standard of care.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsibly lead teams on technical assignments, as well as nurturing and growing new and existing client relationships.
  • On-site inspection/investigation including surveying and documenting observations, photographing, and
  • Provides expert testimony in architectural and construction related litigation
  • Researches historical background of diverse systems, technical issues, and code
  • Organizes field data to facilitate analysis and problem
  • Demonstrated robust technical competence in the evaluation, analysis and design of building enclosures, systems, materials and construction techniques.
  • Capable of efficiently determining the cause(s) of building enclosure, systems, and material failures and be able to support the development of repair strategies, details, and specifications.
  • Attends meetings at various office, field and construction
  • Performs inspections of buildings and other structures, both visually and with instruments.
  • Records data clearly and write passages for reports, letters, etc.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (Master’s )
  • Demonstrated proficiency in organizational processes and project management.
  • 12 or more years of experience as a Registered Architect, with accompanying professional experience in practice that is current and active.
  • Proven field experience in the observation, analysis and documentation of existing buildings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop new business, maintain existing client relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Meticulous “do whatever it takes” work ethic.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS: 

  • California registration. Other registrations of regionally related designations are strongly desired.
  • NCARB registration desired.
  • Strong verbal (presentations and testimony), written (reports) and visual communication skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of common computer and software programs utilized by forensics experts in the course of a normal delivery of services.
  • Compelling technical and detailing skills.
  • Aptitude to effectively manage medium sized, multiple projects and staff. Experience in handling entire project.
  • Capability to effectively work on projects independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to teach, inspire and mentor younger staff.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job. This position requires visual acuity and listening ability; individuals must have the dexterity to be able to operate typical office equipment, as well as field equipment such as ladders. Additionally, this person must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment up to 50 lbs., perform work in extreme temperatures, and understand and appreciate safety training specific to numerous workplace and construction hazards.
